Otún Quimbaya Sanctuary Hike
At 8 am, we'll pick you up at your hotel to head to the Otún Quimbaya Fauna and Flora Sanctuary, located southwest of Pereira.
We'll travel 18 kilometers by road to reach this natural reserve situated in the Cordillera Central of the Colombian Andes. The sanctuary is known for its great biodiversity, housing numerous bird species, insects, small mammals, and plants.
Upon arrival, we'll start a 2-kilometer hiking route through one of the Andean rainforest trails. The hike will be of low difficulty and will be led by an environmental guide who will take you through trails and mountains to see the beautiful landscapes of this protected area.
During the walk, we'll have a stop for a typical local lunch that includes one dish and a drink before continuing our exploration.
The Otún Quimbaya Sanctuary focuses on the protection of endangered species. We'll have the chance to see birds like the moustached antpitta, multicolored tanager, and torrent duck, as well as mammals such as monkeys, tapirs, and pacaranas, the second-largest rodent in Colombia.
We will conclude the tour and return to Pereira, dropping you off at your hotel by 2 pm.
