Petropolis Guided Tour
At 10 am we'll meet outside the Casa Santos Dumont Museum. There we'll start a guided tour of Petrópolis that will take us through the streets of the city while we discover its history.
We will visit the Santos Dumont Museum to learn about the man known as the father of Brazilian aviation. The museum houses personal objects of this important inventor and engineer, such as books and letters.
Afterwards, we'll go to the Liberty Garden, a place in Petropolis where we can stroll along its path adorned with umbrellas, an ideal spot for pictures, and visit a chocolate factory to learn about its products.
We'll continue our tour walking along Koeler Avenue, where we'll see the mansions that reflect the city's colonial past. The street was originally called D. Afonso, and we will discover the reason for the name change. The next stop will be at the Cathedral of São Pedro de Alcântara, the most important temple in Petrópolis, where we will admire its façade and explore its interior.
After exploring the cathedral, we'll go to Casa Petropolis and conclude the tour with a visit to the Imperial Museum, the former summer palace of Dom Pedro II. After three hours, we will finish the tour at the entrance of the Imperial Museum.
