Immerse yourself in Thailand's rich cultural, historical and architectural heritage on this day trip to the ancient capital city: Ayutthaya.
Description
At the indicated time, we'll meet at National Stadium BTS Station and travel to the Bang Pa-In Royal Palace, arriving at 10 am. This former summer royal residence features remarkable architecture and serene pools, introducing visitors to the region’s past.
Next, we'll visit the ruins of Ayutthaya, founded in 1350 as the second capital of the Siamese Kingdom. The city was devastated by a Burmese attack in 1767, leaving behind ancient structures that serve as a glimpse into history, with unique sights like tree roots around Buddha heads.
After exploring, we'll have lunch at a local restaurant. The tour includes several hours to visit ancient religious sites such as Wat Mahathat, which features a Buddha head among roots, Wat Mongkol Borpit known for its large seated Buddha, and Wat Phra Sri Sanphet, the most important complex of the ancient capital.
Finally, we'll explore Wat Chaiwatthanaram, recognized for its impressive stone chedis, contributing to Ayutthaya's UNESCO status since 1991. Afterwards, we'll return to Bangkok.
