Immerse yourself in Thailand's rich cultural, historical and architectural heritage on this day trip to the ancient capital city: Ayutthaya.

Description

At the indicated time, we'll meet at the National Stadium BTS Station. Then we'll proceed to the Bang Pa-In Royal Palace in an air-conditioned vehicle, arriving at 10 am. This former Thai King's summer residence is a riverside palace complex featuring remarkable architecture.

Next, we'll continue to the ruins of Ayutthaya, founded in 1350 as the second capital of the Siamese Kingdom. The city was destroyed by the Burmese army in 1767, leading to the abandonment and subsequent decay of its structures. The ancient ruins, including tree roots growing around scattered Buddha heads, are significant historical remnants.

After exploring the ancient city, we'll stop for lunch at a local restaurant. Participants will have several hours to explore numerous ancient religious sites, including Wat Mahathat, where a large Buddha head is embedded in tree roots, Wat Mongkol Borpit, known for its huge seated Buddha statue, and Wat Phra Sri Sanphet, the most sacred complex of the ancient capital.

Lastly, we'll visit Wat Chaiwatthanaram, famous for its tall stone Thai Buddhist chedi monument, contributing to Ayutthaya's UNESCO status awarded in 1991. Following our exploration, we'll return to Bangkok.
