Pietrapertosa Guided Tour
We'll meet at the indicated time at the bus stop on Via Umberto I to start this guided tour of Pietrapertosa. Located more than 1,000 metres (3,280 feet) above sea level, it is the highest town in Basilicata.
Situated in the heart of the Lucanian Dolomites, Pietrapertosa boasts remains of fortifications dating back to the Norman period.
The first stop will be the Franciscan Temple, where we will learn about the history of this ancient building constructed in 1474. We'll proceed to the Church of San Giacomo Maggiore and walk down the narrow streets of L’Arabata, the oldest neighbourhood in Pietrapertosa.
Next, we'll walk up to the old Via dei Portali and the impressive Angel Flight. From this point, you'll have panoramic views of Pietrapertosa and the valley below.
After a total of 2.5 hours, we'll conclude the tour back at the meeting point.
