Discover the ruins of a beautiful Greco-Roman city on this excursion to the archaeological site of Velia.

Velia Archaeological Site Excursion

We'll pick you up at your hotel in Pisciotta or at the established meeting point. From there, we'll head to the archaeological site of Velia, located in the municipality of Ascea Marina.

Upon arrival, we'll visit the remains of this ancient place, known as Velia to the Romans and Elea to the Greeks. We will walk through the agora of Velia, frequented by philosophers such as Parmenides, Zeno, and Melissus.

We'll see the acropolis of Elea and the Tower of Velia, an Angevin construction from the Middle Ages. Note that during summer, the site hosts theatrical performances.

Another notable site is the Porta Rosa, the only example of a 4th century Greek arch.

After approximately six hours of excursion, we'll take you back to your hotel in Pisciotta.
