Velia Archaeological Site Excursion

We'll pick you up at your hotel in Pisciotta or at the established meeting point. We will then proceed to the archaeological site of Velia, located in the municipality of Ascea Marina. This site is a key highlight of the Cilento and Vallo di Diano National Park.

Upon arrival, we will visit the remains of this ancient city, known as Velia to the Romans and Elea to the Greeks. The tour includes a walk through the agora of Velia, a notable space associated with philosophers of the Eleatic school such as Parmenides, Zeno, and Melissus.

Additionally, we will view the acropolis of Elea and the Tower of Velia, an Angevin structure from the Middle Ages. This site also hosts theatrical performances during the summer.

We will also see the Porta Rosa, the only surviving example of a 4th century Greek arch and a significant architectural achievement of its time.

After six hours, we will return you to your hotel in Pisciotta.
