Discover some of the Caribbean's customs and traditions on our Garifuna Cultural Tour from Placencia. You'll learn how to play their percussion instruments and try local dishes.
Garifuna Cultural Tour
After we've picked you up from your hotel in Placencia, we'll head towards the Garifuna village of Seine Bight.
The Garifuna are a community descended from Arawak, Kalinago and Afro-Caribbean indigenous groups. They are present in several Central American countries, including Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Belize, with a concentration in Seine Bight.
As we stroll through the village, local representatives will discuss the customs, traditions, and culture of the Garifuna people. We will share a traditional lunch that includes dishes from Garifuna gastronomy, highlighting a blend of African and Caribbean flavors made with rice, fish, and corn.
After lunch, we'll learn about Garifuna culture, including their traditional music and dances. Attend a percussion workshop to play drums, maracas, and other instruments. There will also be an opportunity to learn a Garifuna dance.
We will say our goodbyes and return to Placencia, arriving at your hotel by 4 PM.
