On this guided tour of Plovdiv, we'll discover the corners and history of one of the oldest cities in Bulgaria.

Tour Details

After meeting at the appointed time in front of the Ramada Hotel, we'll begin our exploration of the old town of Plovdiv. Our first stop will be the ruins of the Roman Stadium of Philippopolis and the Roman Theater, where we will discuss the structures and remains from the 1st and 2nd centuries, focusing on the periods of Domitian and Hadrian.

Next, we'll proceed to Saborna Street to visit the church of St. Constantine and St. Helena, followed by a stop at Krastev Square or Lapidarium to view the Hindliyan and Balabanov houses and learn about their wealthy owners.

Continuing our tour, we will visit the Armenian Catholic Church and the statue of the Great Tattletale. We will also explore the Ethnographic Museum and walk up to Nebet Tepe to learn about the city's oldest history.

Following that, we will visit the medieval Hisar Kapia Gate, constructed on an ancient Roman foundation, and proceed to the Muslim temple of Puldin and the houses of Lamartine and Klianti, notable examples of the Bulgarian Renaissance.

We will conclude our tour at the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary of Plovdiv and the Djumaya Mosque before saying goodbye after a 2-hour guided tour.
