On this guided tour of Plovdiv, we'll discover the corners and history of one of the oldest cities in Bulgaria.

Tour Details

After meeting at the appointed time in front of the Ramada Hotel, we'll start touring the old town of Plovdiv. Our first stop will be the ruins of the Roman Stadium of Philippopolis and the Roman Theater, where we will discuss the periods of Domitian and Hadrian.

Next, we will visit Saborna Street to see the church of St. Constantine and St. Helena. We will pass by Krastev Square or Lapidarium in search of the Hindliyan and Balabanov houses, examining their facades and learning about their original wealthy owners.

We will then proceed to the Armenian Catholic Church and the statue of the Great Tattletale, followed by a visit to the Ethnographic Museum and a walk uphill to Nebet Tepe to explore the oldest history of Plovdiv.

Our tour includes the medieval Hisar Kapia Gate, the Muslim temple of Puldin, and the houses of Lamartine and Klianti, notable examples of the Bulgarian Renaissance.

Finally, we will visit the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary of Plovdiv and the Djumaya Mosque to learn more about the religious traditions of the city. The tour lasts approximately 2 hours.
