On this tour of Plovdiv with an audio guide, we'll explore the history of one of the oldest cities in Bulgaria.
Tour Details
After meeting at the Ramada Hotel, we will begin our tour of the old town of Plovdiv. Our first stop includes the Roman Stadium of Philippopolis and the Roman Theater, where we will discuss the periods of Domitian and Hadrian.
Next, we will visit Saborna Street and the church of St. Constantine and St. Helena, followed by a stop at Krastev Square to view the Hindliyan and Balabanov houses and learn about their wealthy owners.
We will then proceed to the Armenian Catholic Church and the statue of the Great Tattletale, before arriving at the Ethnographic Museum and hiking to Nebet Tepe to uncover Plovdiv's earliest history.
Our tour continues to the medieval Hisar Kapia Gate, followed by visits to the Muslim temple of Puldin and the houses of Lamartine and Klianti, significant examples of the Bulgarian Renaissance.
Our journey concludes at the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary of Plovdiv and the Djumaya Mosque, where we will learn about the city's religious traditions. This 2-hour tour will end at this final stop.
