Want to explore one of the most beautiful areas of the province of León? On this tour through the Tebaida Berciana, we'll visit the monastery of Montes de Valdueza and the village of Peñalba de Santiago!

Tebaida Berciana Tour

The Tebaida Berciana is an area in León with historical and natural value, declared a Picturesque Landscape and an Asset of Cultural Interest. The tour starts at the designated time in the parking lot of Montes de Valdueza.

We will first visit the monastery of San Pedro de Montes, founded by San Fructuoso in the 7th century. Key areas of the monastery include the kitchen, the abbot's quarters, and the church.

After the monastery tour, we will return to the parking lot and follow the guide in our own cars to Peñalba de Santiago, approximately a 15-minute drive. This village is regarded as one of the most beautiful in Spain.

The tour in Peñalba will include visiting the Mozarabic church and walking through the cobbled streets to see typical houses with slate roofs.

The tour will conclude after 2.5 hours, enjoying the views from the viewpoint of Peñalba de Santiago.

Closing of Monuments

Note that on Sundays at 4 pm, the church of Peñalba de Santiago will be closed to the public. Instead, we will admire the exterior architecture and discuss its history.
