Furnas Day Trip + Gorreana Tea Plantations

Description

We'll meet on Avenida João Bosco Mota Amaral in Ponta Delgada and set off along the southern coastline of the island. Our first stop will be in the coastal town of Vila Franca do Campo, where we'll admire the Islet of Vila Franco do Campo, a large volcanic caldera off the town's coast.

Our route continues inland, characterized by constant volcanic activity. We'll visit the calderas and lagoon of Furnas, learning about the origins of various volcanic vents.

After gaining volcanic knowledge, we'll enjoy a traditional lunch at a nearby restaurant. Post-lunch, we'll head to the north of the island to visit the Gorreana tea plantations, one of the most renowned tea manufacturers in the Azores. Here, we'll sample some of their famous teas to appreciate their aromas and flavors before returning to Ponta Delgada.
