Silvia Tour + Visit to a Misak Community

With this day trip to Silvia, we will discover the green landscapes of the 'Switzerland of America' and visit a Misak community to learn about their customs.

Tour Details

We will pick you up at your hotel in Popayán at the indicated time and drive to the north of the department of Cauca. After a 1.5-hour drive, we will arrive in Silvia, situated in a valley of the Cordillera Central of Colombia.

You will be impressed by the green landscapes of this municipality. We will take a guided tour of Silvia, visiting its main attractions, including the welcome sign, Nuestra Señora de Chiquinquirá parish church, and the Belén viewpoint for a panoramic view of the town. On Tuesdays, we will also visit the indigenous market, a vibrant space for cultural and commercial exchange.

At midday, we will have a break for a typical lunch featuring options like fish, meat, or grilled chicken, along with side dishes and a drink.

We will then depart for the Guambia region, where we will visit Casa Payán, a site for preserving ancestral medicine. You will learn about native medicinal plants, their preparation, and health benefits. Additionally, we will explore a botanical garden while learning about the Misak cosmovision and their connection to nature.

Finally, we will return to Popayán, arriving at your hotel after approximately 7 hours.
