In Quechua, Samaipata means "place of rest between mountains", reflecting the essence of this archaeological site. The Fort Samaipata Day Trip includes a visit to one of Bolivia's popular tourist destinations and its renowned vineyards.

Fort Samaipata Day Trip

Pickup from your hotel in Santa Cruz de la Sierra is at 8 am, followed by a 2 hour 30 minute drive to the Fort and village of Samaipata. During the journey, enjoy views of the mountain range known as "The Volcano".

Upon arrival, a 40-minute guided tour of the archaeological site will reveal pre-Columbian architecture and the history of the defensive, religious, and esoteric buildings built by the Chané, Inca, and Spanish civilizations.

Next, we will visit the Samaipata Archaeological Museum, located 12 miles (20 kilometers) from the site, showcasing artifacts from the fort in six rooms.

A lunch break will take place around 1 pm for 1 hour 30 minutes at a local restaurant. The return journey to Santa Cruz will include a photo stop at Las Cuevas and El Chorro waterfalls.

We expect to return to your hotel in Santa Cruz by approximately 6:30 pm.
