Visit the Jesuit Missions of San Javier, Concepción, or San José on our day trip from Santa Cruz de la Sierra. Immerse yourself in the history of these Andean reductions, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Jesuit Missions Day Trip

During booking, choose between two options. Both include hotel pick-up in Santa Cruz de la Sierra and last 13 hours.

San Javier & Concepción Day Trip

After pick-up at 7 am, we will drive to the villages of Cotoca, Pailas, Paillón, and Los Troncos, significant to the Bolivian Jesuit Missions.

Learn about these reductions, founded at the end of the 17th century to evangelize New World territories, which remain largely intact today. Bolivia has six towns recognized as World Heritage Sites due to this movement.

At around 11:30 am, we will arrive at San Javier, founded in 1691. Explore this mission, the oldest in Bolivia, and the Mission Museum. After this visit, we will travel to Concepción for a traditional lunch.

Subsequently, we will tour this 18th-century mission and its arts and crafts workshops, where local Chiquitanos create traditional pieces to support the local economy.

San José Day Trip

At 7:30 am, we will drive to the Jesuit Mission of San José. After a 4-hour journey through the Bolivian countryside, we will arrive at the church. During the visit, we will explore the church and the museum.

Next, we will enjoy a traditional meal before traveling to Santa Cruz la Vieja. We will stop at a viewpoint for views of the Chiquitano Valley, followed by a visit to the local handicraft centre to learn about the residents' work.
