San Javier & Concepción Day Trip
We will depart at 7 am and drive through the villages of Cotoca, Pailas, Paillón, and Los Troncos. These locations were vital to the Bolivian Jesuit Missions, founded at the end of the 17th century to evangelize the New World. Bolivia has six towns recognized as World Heritage Sites due to this movement.
By approximately 11:30 am, we will reach San Javier, founded in 1691. We will explore the oldest mission in Bolivia and visit the Mission Museum. Then, we will proceed to Concepción for a traditional lunch. Following lunch, we will explore this 18th-century site and visit various arts and crafts workshops run by local Chiquitanos.
San José Day Trip
Departing at 7:30 am, we will drive to the Jesuit Mission of San José, with a travel time of 4 hours. Upon arrival, we will tour the church and museum. After a traditional meal, we will journey to Santa Cruz la Vieja, stopping at a viewpoint for views of the Chiquitano Valley. The day will conclude with a visit to the local handicraft center to learn about the residents' work.
