Samaipata 2 Day Trip

Day 1: Santa Cruz - Samaipata

Your adventure begins at 8 am with a hotel pickup, where we'll head westward from Santa Cruz de la Sierra towards Samaipata. As we travel, prepare to be captivated by breathtaking vistas of the rugged Bolivian plains interspersed with charming villages.

We will take a brief stop at Cuevas, renowned for its stunning waterfalls, providing an ideal setting for a personal lunch before continuing to Fort Samaipata. The name translates to "rest between mountains" in Quechua, aptly reflecting these pre-Columbian ruins situated amidst the mountains.

Our exploration will include the Samaipata archaeological complex, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1998. Here, you'll stroll through ancient stone-carved structures and learn that this site was once inhabited by three distinct civilizations. Following our tour, we'll proceed to the town of Samaipata, where we'll settle in for the night.

Day 2: Samaipata - Santa Cruz

Good morning! After enjoying breakfast, we will immerse ourselves in the heart of Samaipata. This charming town was established by Spanish colonizers in 1618 for its strategic position linking Santa Cruz and Vallegrande. During our exploration, we will delve into the intriguing history of the town, including its significance in Che Guevara's guerilla activities in Bolivia.

Our next stop will be the Archaeological Museum of Samaipata, a colonial-style building that showcases ceramics, statuettes, and various artifacts uncovered during the fort's excavations.

After two remarkable days filled with discovery, we will journey back to Santa Cruz de la Sierra and drop you off at your hotel around 6 pm.
