Samaipata 2 Day Trip

Day 1: Santa Cruz - Samaipata

At 8 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel and set off west from Santa Cruz de la Sierra towards Samaipata. On the way, you'll see views of the Bolivian plains dotted with small villages.

Before reaching our destination, we'll stop at Cuevas, known for its beautiful waterfalls. Here, you'll have lunch on your own before continuing to Fort Samaipata. The name means "rest between mountains" in Quechua, describing these pre-Columbian ruins.

We'll visit the archaeological complex of Samaipata, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1998, and walk among its stone-carved buildings. This spot has been inhabited by three different civilizations. After the tour, we'll proceed to the town of Samaipata where we'll stay overnight.

Day 2: Samaipata - Santa Cruz

After breakfast, we'll explore Samaipata, founded by Spanish settlers in 1618. During our visit, we'll learn about its historical significance, including its role in Che Guevara's guerilla campaign in Bolivia.

Next, we'll visit the Archaeological Museum of Samaipata, which features ceramics, statuettes, and other objects found during excavations of the fort.

After 2 days, we'll return to Santa Cruz de la Sierra and drop you back at your hotel around 6 pm.
