The volcanic scenery around Mount Saint Helens is an enchanting site. On this day trip, we'll see lava caves, lakes and even 100-year-old trees. If you're in Portland you can't miss this day trip!
Description
More than 30 years ago, a volcano violently erupted in the southeast of Washington State, destroying everything in its path. Mount Saint Helens is an exceptional geological site, only 80 kilometres (50 miles) from Portland. At the time indicated, we'll meet at 523 NE 19th Avenue, and we'll head to Mount Saint Helens. During our journey, we'll explain the huge geological curiosities that characterise this area, such as the 18th May 1980 eruption.
Upon arrival, we'll hike along one of the most outstanding routes in Mount Saint Helens, passing by waterfalls, lava caves, and forests. The largest lava cave in North America can be found here. If time permits, we'll visit the closest viewpoint to the volcano crater to learn about this stratovolcano's activity. We'll also have a picnic-style lunch next to Spirit Lake.
Afterwards, we'll continue exploring the areas surrounding Mount Saint Helens, and on our return to Portland, we'll stop at a bar for drinks or snacks if desired. After 12 hours, the day trip will end at the initial meeting point.
