Hike through a spectacular valley and discover one of Portugal's most charming cities with this trip to the Paiva Walkways and Aveiro, departing from Porto.
Aveiro and Paiva Walkways Trip
At the indicated time, we'll meet at Rua de Alexandre Herculano, 173. From there, we'll take a 1 hour trip to the Passadiços do Paiva Trailhead.
Once at our destination, we'll start a 2-hour walk along the wooden walkways, covering approximately 5 km (3.1 miles) in the Arouca Geopark, alongside the Paiva River.
Afterwards, we'll drive to Arouca, where we'll enjoy a traditional meal with options for meat, fish, or vegetarian. Arouca features one of the longest pedestrian suspension bridges, the 516 Arouca Bridge, which we can cross during the visit.
Next, we'll proceed to Costa Nova, known for its colourful houses, and then to Aveiro, often called the Venice of Portugal. Here, we'll visit Republic Square with the 18th century Town Hall and view notable Art Nouveau constructions such as Casa do Major Pessoa and the Ergovisão building.
After discovering Aveiro's history, we'll board a traditional moliceiro boat for a 45-minute trip along the canals, offering unique views of the colourful streets.
The trip will conclude with the return to Porto, arriving back at your hotel approximately 10 hours later.
