Day Trip to Santiago de Compostela

On this tour, we'll visit Santiago de Compostela and Valença do Minho.

Description

We will pick you up at the San Bento train station and depart from Porto to cross the Minho region into Spain.

Our first stop will be Santiago de Compostela, a significant religious centre and one of the oldest pilgrimage sites globally, known as the endpoint of the "Camino de Santiago".

We will visit the Santiago de Compostela Cathedral, notable for its romantic architecture and believed to house the remains of St. James the Apostle. Despite ongoing construction limiting access to some areas, it remains a crucial landmark to see.

After the cathedral visit, you will have free time for lunch and to explore the historic center, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, or shop for souvenirs.

In the afternoon, we will proceed to Valença do Minho, where you will have free time to explore its historic fortress, characterized by two towers and a double wall, exemplifying 17th and 18th-century military architecture.

We will conclude the tour at Rua de Alexandre Herculano after a total of 9 hours.
