Jesuit Ruins of Santa Ana, Loreto & San Ignacio Tour
- 6 Stunden
Do you know about the legacy of Jesuits in South America? On this tour through the Jesuit ruins of Misiones, we'll visit the ancient reductions of Santa Ana, Nuestra Señora de Loreto and San Ignacio Miní.
Description
At the indicated time, you'll be picked up at your hotel in Posadas for a tour of the Jesuit ruins in the province of Misiones.
On our tour, we'll visit three former Jesuit Reductions declared World Heritage Sites. Along the way, we'll cross a landscape located near the Paraná River, which serves as a border between Argentina and Paraguay.
The first stop will be at the Jesuit reduction of Nuestra Señora de Santa Ana, founded in 1633. There, we'll learn about the legacy of the Jesuits, who had to leave South America after their expulsion from the Spanish territories enacted by King Carlos III of Spain in 1767.
Next, we'll visit the Jesuit reduction of Nuestra Señora de Loreto, dating back to 1610. Here, we'll explore how the Jesuits spread their messages through the printing press. Finally, we'll proceed to the San Ignacio Miní reduction, where we will learn about its founding father, the Jesuit Roque González de Santa Cruz.
After visiting this last mission, we'll return to Posadas, arriving at your hotel 6 hours after pickup.
