2-day Tour Around Potosí
- 2 Tage
Mysterious caves, rocky canyon landscapes and pre-Columbian remains. Join us on this 2-day tour around Potosí to discover all this and more!
Day 1
We'll meet at 8 am in front of the Potosí Mint. Our first destination is a silver smelter, located about 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) outside the city, where we'll learn about the mining tradition of Potosí and see colonial-era machines for processing silver. Next, we will visit the Devil's Cave, known for its dark legend.
Afterward, we'll head to the Cayara hacienda and its house museum, featuring mural decorations, and explore the Cayara tunnels, associated with a hydroelectric plant financed by Frenchman Luis Soux.
After lunch, we'll visit the Chiracoro lime kilns to learn about lime processing and conclude the day at Chocko Chocko hill, which houses an archaeological site. We will camp at Jatun Pampa, by the river.
Day 2
After breakfast, we will visit the Valley of Rocks to see unique geological formations and large canyons inhabited by pumas. Our next stop will be the Chiracoro waterfalls, where we can observe artisanal fishermen and have lunch. We will then return to Potosí, arriving around 4 pm.
