Mysterious caves, rocky canyon landscapes and pre-Columbian remains. Join us on this 2-day tour around Potosi to discover all this and more!
Day 1
We'll meet at 8 am in front of the Potosí Mint. The first destination is a silver smelter located about 10 kilometres (6.2 miles) outside the city, where we will learn about the mining tradition of Potosí and see colonial machines used for processing silver. Next, we visit the Devil's Cave, known for its dark legend. Following that, we'll go to the Cayara hacienda and its house museum, featuring mural decorations and the Cayara tunnels utilized for the hydroelectric plant financed by Luis Soux.
After lunch, we’ll move on to the Chiracoro lime kilns to learn about lime processing and end the day at Chocko Chocko hill, an archaeological site. We will camp at Jatun Pampa, by a river.
Day 2
After breakfast, our journey continues to the Valley of Rocks, where we will observe geological formations and canyons inhabited by pumas. The next stop is the Chiracoro waterfalls, a spot for observing artisanal fishermen. After a break for lunch, we will return to Potosí, arriving around 4 pm.
