  • 2 Tage
  • 1 Bewertung

Mysterious caves, rocky canyon landscapes and pre-Columbian remains. Join us on this 2-day tour around Potosi to discover all this and more!

Day 1

We'll meet at 8 am in front of the Potosí Mint. Our first destination, located about 10 kilometres (6.2 miles) outside the city, is a silver smelter, where we'll learn about the mining tradition of Potosí and see colonial machines for processing silver. The next stop is the Devil's Cave, a site with a dark legend.

We will then visit the Cayara hacienda and its house museum, featuring mural decorations. We will also see the Cayara tunnels, linked to a hydroelectric plant financed by Frenchman Luis Soux for public lighting in Potosí.

After lunch, we will explore the Chiracoro lime kilns and learn about the lime treated in their smelting furnaces. The day ends at Chocko Chocko hill with an archaeological site. We will camp at Jatun Pampa by the river.

Day 2

After breakfast, we'll continue our tour. First, we will visit the Valley of Rocks, noted for its geological formations and canyons inhabited by pumas.

The next stop is the Chiracoro waterfalls, where we can observe artisanal fishermen, followed by lunch. We will return to Potosí, arriving around 4 pm.
