Caracoles Mine Tour
At the selected time, we'll meet in front of the National Mint of Bolivia to begin our adventure through one of the working mines of Potosí.
We'll take a bus to Cerro Rico, the most important silver deposit in the world, known for the large quantities of silver extracted during colonial times, which enriched the Spanish Empire.
We'll don our safety equipment and visit the mining market and the chemical laboratory for mineral analysis and classification.
Next, we'll climb the hill and stop at a viewpoint to enjoy the views of Potosí. We will then enter the Caracoles mine, one of the few active mines from colonial times.
Upon entry, we will be greeted by Tío, the miners' protector. We will then walk for two hours through the tunnels, observing miners at work.
After a four-hour tour, we'll return to the starting point in Potosí.
