Caracoles Mine Tour
At the selected time, we'll meet in front of the National Mint of Bolivia to begin this tour through one of the working mines of Potosí.
We'll take a bus to the outskirts of the city, specifically to Cerro Rico, the most important silver deposit in the world, where much of the silver was extracted during colonial times to enrich the Spanish Empire.
We will put on our safety equipment and visit the mining market and the chemical laboratory for mineral analysis and classification.
Next, we will climb the hill, stopping at a viewpoint to enjoy views of Potosí, before entering the Caracoles mine, one of the few active mines from colonial times.
Upon entry, we will meet Tío, the miners' protector. We will walk for two hours through the tunnels, observing miners at work.
After a four-hour tour, we will return to the starting point in Potosí.
