Caracoles Mine Tour
At the selected time, we'll meet in front of the National Mint of Bolivia to begin this tour through one of the working mines of Potosí.
We'll take a bus to the outskirts of the city, specifically to Cerro Rico, the most important silver deposit in the world, where most of the silver was extracted during colonial times.
We'll put on our safety equipment and visit the mining market and the chemical laboratory for mineral analysis and classification.
We'll then climb the hill, stopping at a viewpoint for views of Potosí. Afterward, we'll enter the Caracoles mine, one of the few active mines from colonial times.
Upon entering, we'll be welcomed by Tío, the miners' protector. We'll walk for two hours through the tunnels and observe miners at work.
After a four-hour tour, we'll return to the starting point in Potosí.
