Potosi Mines Tour + Thuru Museum
At the chosen time, we'll meet in front of the Casa de la Moneda to begin this tour of the exterior of the Potosí mines. Ideal for those who prefer not to go into the tunnels and instead delve into the history and workings of the mines from the outside.
We will visit the mining market to see the products used in the mines, such as nitroglycerine. Next, we will go to the chemical laboratory for the selection of minerals, followed by a viewpoint for a panoramic view of Potosí.
We will then see the exterior of the Candelaria and Rosario mines and learn about the importance of these deposits since colonial times. Notably, 80% of the world's silver comes from Cerro Rico.
The last stop is the Thuru Museum, named after a refining invention in use since colonial times. We will view this artefact and the exhibition featuring collections of minerals and mining work material from colonial times.
Finally, we will return to Potosí, arriving three to four hours after departure.
