Potosi Mines Tour + Thuru Museum
We will meet at the chosen time in front of the Casa de la Moneda to start the exterior tour of the Potosí mines, ideal for those who prefer not to enter the tunnels while exploring the history and workings of the mines.
Initially, we will visit the mining market, to see products used in mining, such as nitroglycerine. Subsequently, we will proceed to the chemical laboratory, where minerals are selected, followed by a visit to a viewpoint for a panoramic view of Potosí.
Next, we will explore the exterior of the Candelaria and Rosario mines and learn about the significance of these deposits since colonial times, noting that 80% of the world's silver originates from Cerro Rico, known as 'Rich Mountain.'
The tour concludes at the Thuru Museum, where we will view an invention used in mineral refining since colonial times, followed by an exhibition featuring collections of minerals and mining work materials from that era.
We will return to Potosí approximately three to four hours after departure.
