Potosi Mines Tour + Thuru Museum

At the scheduled time, we will meet in front of the Casa de la Moneda to start the tour of the exterior of the Potosí mines. This is ideal for individuals who prefer not to enter the tunnels and want to explore the history and operations of the mines from outside.

First, we will visit the mining market, where we will observe the products used in the mines, including nitroglycerine. Next, we will proceed to the chemical laboratory, where mineral selection occurs, and then to a viewpoint for a panoramic view of Potosí.

We will also see the externals of the Candelaria and Rosario mines and learn about the historical significance of these deposits since colonial times. It is noted that 80% of the world's silver is sourced from Cerro Rico, known as 'Rich Mountain.'

The final stop is the Thuru Museum, named after a colonial-era invention used for mineral refining. After viewing this artifact, we will explore the exhibition featuring collections of minerals and historical mining tools.

We will return to Potosí approximately three to four hours after departure.
