Discover the architecture of the Villa Imperial de Potosí and its catacombs on our San Francisco Monastery Guided Tour.
San Francisco Monastery Guided Tour
At your chosen time, we'll meet on Calle Ayacucho and walk to the Monastery of San Francisco. This convent, built in 1548, reflects the colonial era when wealth from Potosí's silver mines facilitated the construction of religious edifices.
The complex includes a church with tiled domes, a bell tower, rooms that served as residences for monks, and a crypt beneath the main altar. We'll visit the temple for monk prayers and admire the high altar, followed by a tour of the various rooms where we will see paintings related to the Franciscan order.
Next, we will proceed to the catacombs, the resting place for numerous individuals. Our 1-hour tour will conclude at the monastery's exit.
