Santa Teresa Convent Guided Tour
On our guided tour of the Santa Teresa Convent, you'll explore a significant collection of religious art in Latin America, located in Potosí. We will meet at your selected time on Calle Ayacucho and walk to the convent.
The Santa Teresa Convent was established in 1685 by the Order of the Discalced Carmelites in honor of Saint Teresa of Avila. In 1976, the nuns relocated to a modern building, and the convent became a museum of religious art, recognized for its important collection.
During the tour, we will visit the main church and the Hermitage of the Immaculate Conception, which serve as spiritual retreats for newly professed nuns and feature Baroque altarpieces.
We will also explore the convent's museum, including the Sala de la Virgen Niña, displaying textiles made by the sisters, as well as the Sala de los Clásicos and the Sala del Belén.
Finally, we will visit the convent's courtyards to see the gardens where the Carmelites engaged in agricultural work. The tour lasts approximately 2 hours, concluding at the museum's exit.
