Santa Teresa Convent Guided Tour

On our guided tour of the Santa Teresa Convent, we'll explore a significant collection of religious art in Latin America, ideal for visitors in Potosí.

We will meet at your selected time on Calle Ayacucho and walk to the Santa Teresa Convent, a notable religious complex. Founded in 1685 by the Order of the Discalced Carmelites in honor of Saint Teresa of Avila, the convent became a museum of religious art after the community moved to a modern building in 1976.

During the tour, we will visit the main church and the Hermitage of the Immaculate Conception, which serve as retreats for newly professed nuns and feature Baroque altarpieces.

We will also explore the convent’s museum, including the Sala de la Virgen Niña, showcasing textiles made by the sisters, as well as the Sala de los Clásicos and the Sala del Belén.

Finally, we will visit the convent's courtyards, where small gardens were maintained by the Carmelites. The tour will conclude after 2 hours at the museum's exit.
