On our guided tour of the Santa Teresa Convent, you will discover a notable collection of religious art in Latin America while visiting Potosí.

Santa Teresa Convent Guided Tour

At your chosen time, we will meet on Calle Ayacucho and walk to the Santa Teresa Convent.

This monastery was established in 1685 by the Order of the Discalced Carmelites in honor of Saint Teresa of Avila. In 1976, the nuns relocated to a modern building, and the convent became a museum of religious art with one of the key collections in Latin America.

During the guided tour, we will visit the main church and the Hermitage of the Immaculate Conception, which serves as a spiritual retreat for newly professed nuns and features Baroque altarpieces.

We will explore various rooms in the convent's museum of religious art, including the Sala de la Virgen Niña, showcasing textiles and embroidery made by the sisters, as well as the Sala de los Clásicos and the Sala del Belén.

Next, we will visit the convent's courtyards to see the small gardens where the Carmelites engaged in agricultural work.

After a 2-hour tour, we will conclude at the museum's exit.
