Tour of the National Mint of Bolivia
We'll meet at the time of your choice in front of the National Mint of Bolivia, a significant location in the history of Bolivia and the Spanish Empire.
Upon entering, we will see the majestic entrance cloister and one of the 5 courtyards of the National Mint of Bolivia. We will encounter a giant mask with a mocking smile above the arcades of the courtyard and explore its meaning.
During the tour, we'll learn about the relevance of this institution during the viceregal era, highlighting how the Villa Imperial de Potosí became one of the richest cities in the world.
The museum features paintings, numismatic collections, smelting furnaces, and historical machines that were used to mint coins. We will examine reales, marks, and gold and silver coins.
At the conclusion of our hour and a half tour, we will visit the gift store to purchase brass, copper, or silver items as souvenirs or stamp your own coin, before saying our goodbyes at the exit of the museum.
