Santa Catarina boasts one of Brazil's most diverse bird populations. Join us for a bird-watching activity in Praia Grande, and try to spot numerous species!
Bird Watching in Praia Grande
We'll pick you up at your hotel in Praia Grande and travel to an ecological refuge in the Atlantic Forest.
Upon arrival at the refuge near the Malacara Canyon, we'll embark on a 3-kilometer (1.8-mile) hiking route to spot native bird species. During the hike, we'll look for birds endemic to the Atlantic Forest, such as Pygmy Hermits, Pauraque Nightjars, and Common Surucuas.
Participants will be provided with an ornithology book and binoculars for easier bird identification. Our guide will offer assistance in distinguishing species by plumage, beak type, and other characteristics.
We will continue hiking to a waterfall in the forest. At the waterfall, there will be an opportunity for a quick break for those wishing to take a refreshing dip. If weather conditions are unfavorable, we will still pause for photo opportunities.
Lastly, we'll return to the meeting point 3 hours later, concluding our tour.
