Maio Island Day Trip

At 5:30 am, pickup will be at your hotel in Praia to travel to the Santiago Island port. Present your ferry ticket to board the ferry to Maio Island, known for being the flattest in the Cape Verde archipelago.

After a 2-hour crossing, arrival will be at Porto Inglês dock in the south of Maio. The first visit will be to the salt mines interpretation center to learn about the salt trade's impact on the island's development.

The tour will continue through the towns of Morro, Calheta, and Morrinho, where you can observe local crafts and landscapes, including the notable dunes of Morrinho.

Lunch will be provided in the village of Pedro Vaz, featuring typical Cape Verdean dishes. Following lunch, a visit to Vila do Maio, the island's capital, will include stops at San José fortress and the church of Our Lady of Light.

The day will end with a brief stop at Bitchirotcha Beach, before returning to Porto Inglês dock for the ferry back to Santiago. Arrival at your hotel in Praia is expected by 7:30 pm.
