Monte Tchota and Pico de Antonia Hike
At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Cape Verde's capital and head to Rui Vaz. In this mountain village, we will begin our hike through the interior of Santiago island. Remember to bring your camera for these natural landscapes.
Our first stop will be a cheese factory to learn about local cheese production. The 4-hour route will take us to the highest points of Santiago island, starting with the 2600 ft Mount Tchota, known for its beautiful Natural Park.
At the summit, we will experience a unique microclimate and learn about the native fauna and high biodiversity. The trek continues as we climb to the Pico de Antonia, which stands at 4500 feet.
From the highest peak, we will enjoy panoramic views of San Jorge Valley, with possible sights of Maio and Fogo islands on clear days. We will have a picnic lunch at Pico de Antonia before walking back to the starting point in Rui Vaz. The total duration of the trip is 7.5 hours, concluding with our return to your hotel in Praia.
