Praia & Cidade Velha Guided Tour

We will pick you up from your hotel in Praia and start our tour of Cape Verde's capital at the scheduled time.

The first stop will be the Doña María Pía Lighthouse on Santiago Island's southern tip, where you can enjoy views of the Atlantic Ocean. Next, we will visit the Plateau neighbourhood for a walking tour of Praia's historic centre. Highlights include a walk around Alexandre Albuquerque Square, where you will find the Presidential Palace, the Church of Our Lady of Grace, and the Jaime Mota Barracks.

Adjacent to the square is the Praia Municipal Market with abundant fruit and vegetable stalls. We will also visit the Sucupira Market, which focuses on local handicrafts. After the markets, we will drive to Cidade Velha, an ancient Portuguese settlement on Santiago Island's southern coast.

Cidade Velha's ruins, declared a World Heritage Site, include the remains of the ancient cathedral and the Fuerte Real de São Filipe. We will also visit the Church of Our Lady of Rosário, the convent of São Francisco, and the Pelourinho, the former slave market square.

At the end of the tour, we will return to your hotel in Praia, completing a 4-hour experience.
