Prepare to explore the paranormal on this ghost tour of Providence! Immerse yourself in the past of the colonial city.

Providence Haunted History Tour

Welcome to the capital city of Rhode Island! We'll meet at the Rhode Island Holocaust Memorial and set off on a walking tour through Providence.

This colonial city began as a refuge for settlers escaping religious persecution, soon becoming known for ghostly visitors and hauntings. Notable horror authors Edgar Allan Poe, Bram Stoker, and H.P. Lovecraft have ties to this city, which inspired many of their famous works.

Our first stop will be at Brown College's University Hall, used as an emergency hospital during the Revolutionary War. Reports of lost spirits roaming its halls are common among students and staff.

Next, we will visit the Providence Athenaeum Library, favored by H.P. Lovecraft and Edgar Allan Poe. This location was significant during Poe's courtship of Sarah Helen Whitman. Many claim Poe's spirit haunts the library.

We will then proceed to the Shunned House, known for inspiring H.P. Lovecraft's horror novel. While Lovecraft fictionalized many of his stories, numerous accounts suggest the ghostly apparitions in his works are based on reality. Our guide will share insights on unsolved mysteries, tragic murders, and horrific entities associated with this 18th-century home.

After a spine-tingling 1-hour tour of Providence's paranormal scene, we will conclude at the Fleur de Lys Studio.
