Ascend the Villarrica volcano on this hiking expedition and take in spectacular vistas of the mountainous landscape in this region of Chile.
Hike to Villarrica Volcano
Your adventure begins at 6 am when you will be collected from your accommodation in Pucón for a drive towards the base of the renowned Villarrica Volcano.
Upon reaching the foothills of this impressive Andean mountain, nestled between the Araucania and Los Lagos regions, we will use a chairlift to elevate ourselves to 2,000 meters above sea level. Here, the hiking path to the peak of Villarrica will commence, culminating at an impressive elevation of 2,847 meters!
The ascent, which presents a medium-high level of difficulty, will take around 4 to 5 hours and will introduce you to the Villarrica crater. This remarkable caldera constantly emits smoke and spans approximately 200 meters in diameter.
From the top of the volcano, your view will encompass surrounding peaks, including the Lanín and Quetrupillán volcanoes, alongside the Villarica and Calafquén lakes. On clear days, the lush valleys bordering these lakes will also be visible.
After the hike, we will pause for you to enjoy a picnic lunch while taking in the stunning panoramic sights.
In conclusion, we will descend via the chairlift back to the base of the volcano and return to your hotel in Pucón, with an estimated arrival time of 6 pm.
