Isla Negra and Pomaire Trip
- 8 Stunden
Follow in the footsteps of Pablo Neruda and be seduced by the deep blue Pacific ocean crashing against the rocky coastline of Isla Negra. Besides visiting the famous poet's house, we will also discover a traditional village with a rich artisan heritage.
Isla Negra and Pomaire Trip
After collecting you from your hotel at 8 am, we will head to a stretch of coastline in central Chile known as Isla Negra.
Pablo Neruda owned three homes in Chile, but his favorite was here in Isla Negra. We will visit this house, which resembles a boat. Inside, you will discover nautical memorabilia, such as figureheads, sailboat replicas, tiny model boats inside ancient bottles, seashells, and whale teeth, all playing a role in Neruda's poetry.
After learning about Neruda's final residence, we will see the graves of the poet and his muse, Matilde Urrutia, on a clifftop overlooking the Pacific ocean.
On the return to Santiago, we will stop to visit Pomaire, a small town famous for its artisan pottery. Here, you will learn about clay art and admire the smooth, red-toned ceramic artworks. You will have free time to eat at one of the local restaurants.
To conclude the tour, we'll visit Viña Undurraga, a winery with over 130 years of history, where we can taste their wines.
After a full day exploring Isla Negra and Pomaire, we will return to Santiago, finishing the tour back at your hotel around 4 pm.
