Güirá Oga Wild Animals Shelter Day Trip
On the Güirá Oga Wild Animals Shelter Day Trip, participants will observe native animal species that are unable to return to the wild due to injuries, learning about the care they require.
At 10 am, pick-up will be from your hotel in Puerto Iguazú, followed by transportation to the Güirá Oga Wild Animals Shelter on the outskirts of the city. The center, founded in 1997 by naturalists Jorge Anfuso and Silvia Elsegood, focuses on the rehabilitation of birds of prey and other animals.
Visitors will tour the shelter's facilities and learn about the care provided to animals from the Iguazú region and the province of Misiones. It is important to note that Güirá Oga is not a zoo, but a conservation center for species that cannot be reintroduced to their natural habitats.
During the visit, attendees will see monkeys, toucans, leopards, and other species recovering from injuries. The tour will also include examination of veterinary care rooms, feeding areas, rehabilitation spaces, and facilities for captive breeding.
After the day at Güirá Oga, return transportation to your hotel in Puerto Iguazú will be provided, with drop-off at 11:30 am.
