Güirá Oga Wild Animals Shelter Day Trip

On the Güirá Oga Wild Animals Shelter Day Trip, participants will observe various native animal species that cannot return to the wild due to injuries. The trip includes an educational component on the care each animal receives.

At 10 am, hotel pickups will commence in Puerto Iguazú for transportation to the Güirá Oga Wild Animals Shelter, located on the outskirts of the city. Güirá Oga, meaning "the house of birds" in Guaraní, was established in 1997 by Jorge Anfuso and Silvia Elsegood, experts in rehabilitating birds of prey and other animals.

Visitors will tour the shelter's facilities, learning how animals from Iguazú and the Misiones province are cared for. It is important to note that Güirá Oga is not a zoo, but rather a conservation center for species that are unable to return to their natural habitats.

The tour will showcase the rehabilitation processes for monkeys, toucans, leopards, and more, including rooms designated for veterinary care, feeding, species rehabilitation, and captive breeding.

After the visit, participants will be returned to their hotel in Puerto Iguazú by 11:30 am.
