Experience at the Güirá Oga Wild Animals Shelter
Join us on a captivating day trip to the Güirá Oga Wild Animals Shelter, where you'll encounter a variety of native wildlife unable to return to their natural habitats due to injuries. This visit also offers insight into the care and attention each animal receives to aid their recovery.
Güirá Oga Wild Animals Shelter Day Trip
Your journey begins at 10 am with a convenient pickup from your hotel in Puerto Iguazú, followed by a transfer to the Güirá Oga Wild Animals Shelter, located on the city's outskirts.
The center, whose name translates to "the house of birds" in Guaraní, is enveloped by verdant jungle and was established in 1997 by naturalists Jorge Anfuso and Silvia Elsegood, both experts in rehabilitating birds of prey and various other species.
As you tour the shelter, you'll learn about the care provided to animals rescued from Iguazú and surrounding areas of the Misiones province. It's important to note that Güirá Oga is not a zoo; it serves as a center focused on the conservation of species that, for multiple reasons, cannot re-enter the wild.
Throughout the visit, you’ll observe the recovery process of monkeys, toucans, leopards, and other wildlife. Additionally, you will explore areas dedicated to veterinary care, feeding, rehabilitation, and captive breeding programs.
After a fulfilling day spent at the Güirá Oga Wild Animals Shelter, we will return you to your hotel in Puerto Iguazú, arriving by 11:30 am.
