Puerto Inca Chocolate Workshop
In Peru, chocolate has a significant role due to studies suggesting that it was the birthplace of cocoa consumption. The tropical climate is ideal for cultivating the cocoa tree, making Peruvian chocolate among the best in the world.
During the workshop in Puerto Inca, participants will learn about Peruvian cocoa culture. The experience starts at 8 am at Hospedaje Los Incas. Participants will visit the farm to pick ripe cocoa fruits. A lunch break will include soup or salad, a meat or fish dish, and a fruit drink.
Post-lunch, participants will extract the white pulp containing the cocoa beans, followed by roasting, peeling, and crushing the beans. The next steps involve grinding the beans, tempering, and molding the cocoa to create handmade chocolate.
The workshop concludes at 6 pm, culminating in a tasting of the chocolate made by participants.
