Puerto Inca Chocolate Workshop
In Peru, chocolate holds a significant place, and studies suggest that Peru was the birthplace of cocoa consumption. The tropical climate is ideal for cultivating the cocoa tree, making Peruvian chocolate among the finest in the world.
This workshop in Puerto Inca focuses on the Peruvian cocoa culture. Participants will meet at 8 am at Hospedaje Los Incas to begin the experience. The journey starts with a visit to the farm to pick ripe cocoa fruit.
A lunch break will follow, featuring soup or salad, a plate of meat or fish, and a refreshing fruit drink.
Post-lunch, participants will engage in the workshop, extracting the white pulp from the fruit, where the cocoa beans are located. The process includes roasting, peeling, and crushing the beans, followed by grinding, tempering, and molding the cocoa to create a handmade chocolate product.
The workshop concludes at 6 pm, ending with a tasting of the chocolate made by the participants.
