Puerto Inca Chocolate Workshop

In Peru, chocolate holds a significant place in its culinary culture, with studies suggesting that it may be the birthplace of cocoa consumption. The tropical climate is ideal for cultivating the cocoa tree, resulting in some of the world's most flavorful chocolate.

This workshop in Puerto Inca provides an opportunity to learn about Peruvian cocoa culture. Participants will meet at 8 am at Hospedaje Los Incas. The experience begins with a visit to the farm, where participants will pick ripe cocoa fruit themselves.

A break for lunch is included, featuring soup or salad, a meat or fish dish, and a fruit drink. After lunch, attendees will proceed to the workshop to extract the white pulp from the fruit, which contains the cocoa beans. The subsequent steps include roasting, peeling, and crushing the beans, followed by grinding, tempering, and molding the cocoa into a finished product: handmade chocolate.

The workshop concludes with a tasting session of the chocolate made by the participants. The activity will end at 6 pm.
