Traditional Amazonian cooking workshop
This experience offers a workshop to learn about Amazonian gastronomy, distinct from other Peruvian food cultures. This cuisine features fish, fruits, and vegetables like yucca, plantain, or chonta, which are commonly found in the jungle.
We'll meet at 8 am at the Hospedaje Los Incas and begin our journey. The first stop is a local farm or plantation to select the best fruits and vegetables for our dishes.
Next, we'll visit a local market to choose fresh ingredients for cooking. Upon returning, we will put our culinary skills to the test, preparing two starters, two main courses, and a dessert while learning about the history of Amazonian gastronomy and the properties of the ingredients.
The starters include Amazonian ceviche and chonta or palm heart salad, typically consumed during Easter. We can opt for one of the two starters and choose from main courses such as fish casserole, patarashca, tacacho, or inchicapi. The dessert will be a surprise revealed on the day of the workshop.
After approximately 2.5 hours of cooking, we will enjoy the dishes we've prepared, accompanied by a fruit drink.
The workshop concludes with lunch at 3 pm.
