Estancia San Lorenzo Trip & Whale Watching

On this day trip to the Valdés Peninsula from Puerto Madryn, you'll admire the Magellanic penguins of the Estancia San Lorenzo and can take a boat ride to watch southern right whales.

Activity Details

At the designated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Puerto Madryn and head to the Valdés Peninsula, a World Heritage Site.

After a 1-hour drive, we'll arrive at Puerto Pirámides, where you can participate in a boat ride for southern right whale-watching. You will get the chance to observe these whales as they approach the coastline seeking food.

Next, we'll visit the Estancia San Lorenzo , renowned for its colony of Magellanic penguins. A guided 9.3-mile (1.5-kilometer) hike through the penguin colony will allow us to learn about their behavior, diet, and characteristics. After the hike, you will have 1 hour for lunch at the ranch.

Following lunch, we'll continue the tour by truck in the Punta Norte area of the Valdés Peninsula. Depending on the season, possible wildlife sightings include fur seals, southern elephant seals, and occasionally killer whales.

After visiting Punta Norte, we will proceed to the Carlos Ameghino Interpretation Center, where we will explore the fauna and flora of Valdés Peninsula. We will conclude this 10-hour day trip with our return to your hotel in Puerto Madryn.
