Estancia San Lorenzo Trip & Whale Watching

On this day trip to the Valdés Peninsula from Puerto Madryn, you'll admire the Magellanic penguins of the Estancia San Lorenzo and enjoy a boat ride to watch the southern right whales.

Activity Details

At the designated time, we will pick you up from your hotel in Puerto Madryn and head to Valdés Peninsula, a World Heritage Site.

After a 1-hour road trip, we will arrive at Puerto Pirámides, where you can embark on a boat ride for whale-watching. You can observe the southern right whales up close as they approach the coastline in search of food.

Next, we will visit the Estancia San Lorenzo (San Lorenzo Ranch), known for its colony of Magellanic penguins. You will engage in a 9.3-mile (1.5-kilometer) hike through the penguin colony with a guide. After the hike, you will have 1 hour for lunch at the ranch.

Following lunch, we will continue the tour by truck through the Punta Norte area of Valdés Peninsula. Depending on the season, you may see fur seals, southern elephant seals, and occasionally killer whales.

After visiting Punta Norte, we'll proceed to the Carlos Ameghino Interpretation Center to further explore the fauna and flora of the Valdés Peninsula. Finally, we will return to your hotel in Puerto Madryn, concluding this 10-hour day trip.
