Experience the breathtaking vistas of Patagonia as you embark on an engaging journey to the Florentino Ameghino dam. Here, you will uncover the vital role this hydroelectric facility plays in the lives of local residents.

Florentino Ameghino Dike

Your adventure begins around 9 am, with pickup from your accommodation in Puerto Madryn, as we set off on a 125-mile trek towards the Florentino Ameghino dike in the southwest.

Throughout the excursion, you will appreciate the captivating charm of Argentina's Patagonia. Our route will take us across vast, tranquil plains and venture through the majestic mountains of Chubut province.

After approximately two and a half hours of travel, we will arrive at the Florentino Ameghino dam, where our guide will navigate us through the dam's interior tunnels, leading us to the top of the impressive concrete structure.

At the summit, you will be greeted by two distinct vistas. One side reveals a gorgeous emerald lake, while the opposite showcases the red-rock canyon that the Chubut river gracefully traverses.

Next, we will make a stop at the charming Villa Dique Florentino Ameghino, a quaint community of around 200 residents located by the dam's lakes. Here, you can leisurely walk through its picturesque streets and even sample a regional specialty of Patagonian lamb (this is not included in the tour).

Following a satisfying meal, we will head back to our vehicle for the return trip to your hotel, aiming to arrive by 5 pm.
