Visit South America's largest colony of Patagonian penguins in Punta Tombo, the migration site chosen by the birds for mating, laying eggs and raising their young.
Patagonia Penguin Watching
After pickup from your hotel in Puerto Madryn, we will proceed to Punta Tombo, recognized as the prime location for penguin sightings in South America, where you can walk among them. At the visitor centre, you will learn about the Patagonian Penguins and their yearly return to this ecosystem for reproduction.
In addition to penguins, this region offers diverse local wildlife such as guanacos, Patagonian maras, rheas, and foxes. Following free time for lunch, we will continue north to the coast of Isla Escondida, known for its population of elephant seals, the largest seal species, reaching lengths of up to 5 meters and weights of 4 tonnes.
After experiencing the area’s biodiversity, we will return to your hotel in Puerto Madryn.
Important information
Penguins migrate to Punta Tombo to mate and lay eggs between September and February. However, animal sightings can be unpredictable, and there is no guarantee of seeing them at all times during the season.
