Visit South America's largest colony of Patagonian penguins in Punta Tombo, the migration site chosen by the birds for mating, laying eggs and raising their young.
Patagonia Penguin Watching
After picking you up from your hotel in Puerto Madryn, we will proceed to Punta Tombo, the best location in South America to observe penguins up close. At the visitor centre, you will learn about the Patagonian Penguins and their ecosystem. This region also hosts various wildlife such as guanacos, Patagonian mara, rheas, and foxes, which you will have the opportunity to identify. Following some free time for lunch, we will continue to Isla Escondida, known for its population of elephant seals, which can reach up to 5 meters in length and weigh 4 tonnes. After a day enjoying the area's biodiversity, we will return to your hotel in Puerto Madryn.
Important information
Penguins migrate to Punta Tombo to mate and lay eggs from September to February. However, animal sightings are unpredictable, and it is not guaranteed that you will see the species at all times during the season.
Whale watching
If you wish to see more of Argentina's wildlife, consider joining a whale watching tour in the Valdes Peninsula, an area with a high concentration of marine life in the Southern Hemisphere.
