Enjoy the experience of seeing southern right whales in the Valdes Peninsula, one of the most biodiverse areas of Argentina.

Whale Watching Details

We'll pick you up from your hotel in Puerto Madryn and travel to the El Doradillo Protected Natural Area, just 30 minutes away. From the coast, we'll have the opportunity to see whales swimming up close, only 25 meters away.

Next, we'll visit the Istmo Carlos Ameghino Centre to learn about local flora and fauna, followed by a visit to Puerto Pirámides villa. If weather permits, we may see whales, cormorants, and sea lions.

From Puerto Pirámides, you can take a 90-minute submersible boat trip to see the whales closer to their natural habitat. The trip ends back at the dock, allowing free time for lunch before returning to your hotel.

Day Trip Options

You can choose from three day trip options at the time of booking, each available during different seasons.

Coast

This includes the whale-watching bus trip and touring the beaches of El Doradillo and Las Canteras. Season: until mid-October.

Traditional

This offers a boat ride around Golfo Nuevo to see southern right whales up close within a 10-mile radius. Season: until mid-December.

Yellow Submarine

This option allows you to see whales from a semi-submersible vessel with 40 windows in the submerged cabin. Season: until the end of October.

Hotel Pick Up

The pickup time from hotels in Puerto Madryn depends on the tide. The local provider will confirm the exact time after your reservation.

Important Info

Whale watching season runs from June to December. However, sightings are not guaranteed. From November 1 to December 15, we will visit the Isla de Pajaros Operations Centre instead of El Doradillo.
