Enjoy the experience of seeing southern right whales in the Valdes Peninsula, one of the most biodiverse areas of Argentina.

Whale Watching Details

We'll pick you up from your hotel in Puerto Madryn and travel to the El Doradillo Protected Natural Area, located 30 minutes away, where we can see whales swimming just 25 meters away. We will also visit the Istmo Carlos Ameghino Centre to learn about local flora and fauna and the Puerto Pirámides villa, where, if conditions permit, we may see whales, cormorants, and sea lions.

From Puerto Pirámides, you can take a 90-minute cruise to see the whales closer in their natural habitat. The boat trip ends back at the dock, where you'll have free time for lunch before returning to your hotel in Puerto Madryn.

Day Trip Options

When reserving, choose from three day trip options, noting that each occurs during different seasons due to the whale reproductive cycle.

Coast

This includes the whale-watching bus trip and tours of El Doradillo and Las Canteras beaches.

Season: until mid-October

Traditional

This includes a boat ride around Golfo Nuevo for close-up views of southern right whales within a 10-mile radius. Springtime tours also offer views of local wildlife.

Season: until mid-December

Yellow Submarine

This option features a semi-submersible vessel that allows viewing from underwater through 40 windows in the submerged cabin, with the choice to see whales from above or below.

Season: until the end of October

Hotel Pick Up

The pickup time varies by hotel and tide. After your reservation, the local provider will confirm the pickup time.

Important Info
