Explore the most unique and picturesque villages along the shores of Chile's second-largest lake on our Lake Llanquihue Villages Tour from Puerto Montt. Chilean Germany awaits!
Lake Llanquihue Villages Tour
At 8:30 am, pick-up will be from your hotel in central Puerto Montt, and we will head to Lake Llanquihue to explore the surrounding villages.
The first stop is the municipality of Llanquihue, known for its cured meats and as the source of the Maullín River. The name originates from the Mapuche language, meaning 'the place where one dives into water'.
Next, we will visit Frutillar, a village with Bavarian origins characterized by traditional wooden houses, gardens, and German breweries. You may also view the Avant-garde Teatro del Lago theatre. Optionally, you can visit the German Colonial Museum to learn about the area's first settlers.
We will continue to the village of Puerto Octay, known for its traditional Germana architecture. Here, we will discuss its economic history as the first port to export agricultural products to Osorno.
We will then begin our return journey to Puerto Montt, arriving around 2 pm.
