Puerto Plata Food Tour

At 9 am, we'll meet at General Gregorio Luperón Avenue to begin a food tour of Puerto Plata. We will taste traditional flavors while learning about the culture and history of the city.

Our first stop will be Puerto Plata's most popular market, where we'll discover exotic fruits and vegetables, common spices, and tobacco cultivation. Next, we'll visit a community gallery featuring jewelry made from the national gemstone, Larimar.

The tour continues with insights into the country's religion and the well-known Dominican voodoo. We will then enter the historic district, noted for its traditional barbershops and food stalls. Here, we'll sample the famous chulitos made of yucca and filled with meat or cheese, as well as try handmade ice cream in the main square.

Additionally, we will visit the Casa Museo Gregorio Luperón to learn about the history of Puerto Plata. The tour will culminate with a traditional Dominican lunch at the home of a local family, where we will enjoy Caribbean specialties.

Finally, the tour concludes at 1 pm at the starting point.
