Puerto Plata Food Tour
At 9 am, we'll meet at General Gregorio Luperón Avenue and begin a food tour of Puerto Plata. We'll taste traditional flavors while learning about the culture and history of the city.
Our first destination will be Puerto Plata's most popular market. We will explore exotic fruits and vegetables native to the Dominican Republic, the spices used on the island, and tobacco cultivation. Next, we'll visit a community gallery featuring jewelry made from the national gemstone: Larimar.
The tour continues with insights into the country's religion and renowned Dominican voodoo. We will enter the historic district, which is filled with traditional barbershops and food stalls. Here, we'll sample chulitos made of yucca and stuffed with meat or cheese and handmade ice cream in the main square.
Additionally, we'll visit the Casa Museo Gregorio Luperón to learn about the history of Puerto Plata. The tour concludes with a traditional Dominican lunch at the home of a local family, where we will enjoy local specialties.
The tour wraps up at 1 pm at the starting point.
