Santo Domingo City Tour
We'll pick you up at your hotel in Puerto Plata at the appointed time and head to Santo Domingo. The journey takes approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes.
The tour starts in the Colonial City, the oldest area of the capital. Here, we'll see historical buildings including the Columbus Lighthouse, National Pantheon, and Ozama Fortress, the oldest fort built by Europeans in America.
Next, we'll visit the Primate Cathedral of America, the first cathedral of the American continent, built by order of Carlos V. The Basilica of Santa María de la Encarnación is notable for its Gothic architecture.
We'll continue along Damas Street and El Conde Street, known for its shops. Before leaving the Colonial City, we'll stop at the Alcazar de Diego Colón to discuss its 16th-century significance. A traditional Dominican meal will follow.
To complete the experience, we'll explore Tres Ojos National Park, an underground cave system featuring three natural lakes of beauty.
After a full day, we'll return to Puerto Plata, arriving at your hotel approximately 12 hours after pick up.
