Hiking + Caving in Los Gigantes
Upon reservation, you can choose between the following itineraries, based on trail length and activity location. Both options meet at the scheduled time on the RP28 Route of Los Gigantes.
Hiking and Caving in the La Bestia River
This option involves a 12-kilometer (7.5 miles) hike of medium-high difficulty, taking approximately 9 hours and ascending to 1600 meters (5,250 feet). The hike includes stops for rest and a picnic lunch.
The route starts at the Batán ravine and leads into the underground river La Bestia. Participants will descend 72 meters (236 feet), navigating waterfalls, narrow passages, and five chambers. A 35-meter-long swim (114 feet) through narrow walls also forms part of this adventure.
The activity concludes back at the meeting point.
Hiking and Caving in the Toro Gorge
This itinerary features a 14-kilometer (8.7 miles) hiking route of medium-high difficulty, reaching a maximum altitude of 2100 meters (6,900 feet) and taking 8 to 9 hours. Stops are included for resting and enjoying the Cordoba landscapes.
Trail along the eastern slope of the Toro ravine leads to a cave with a descent to the underground waterfall of El Toro, reaching 40 meters (131 feet) deep over 120 meters (400 feet). This site is known for housing the second-largest underground waterfall in the world.
After the adventure, participants return to the meeting point.
