Exploration of La Paz & Tiwanaku

Your adventure begins with a convenient pickup from your hotel in Puno at the scheduled time. We will promptly set off towards the Peru-Bolivia border, situated in the town of Desaguadero. Upon crossing into Bolivia, our path leads us to the capital city.

After a one-hour ride, we'll arrive at the archaeological marvel of Tiwanaku, recognized as a pivotal site of pre-Columbian history in Bolivia. Here, you'll be able to explore impressive structures, including the Kalasasaya Temple, the Akapana Pyramid, and the iconic Gate of the Sun.

Your visit will also provide the chance to admire the ceremonial vessels known as ´Queros´ and the intricate Huaco-portraits that embellish the site. Throughout the journey to Tiwanaku, you'll discover intriguing insights into the Tiwanaku Empire, which thrived across the central Andes, extending to Lake Titicaca.

Following this, we will travel for another hour, arriving in La Paz. A guided tour awaits you in one of the charming colonial districts, including exploration along 16 de Julio Avenue and Mariscal Santa Cruz Avenue. You'll have the opportunity to wander through the historic center, visiting the 16th-century San Francisco Church, the elegant neoclassical Nuestra Señora de la Paz Cathedral, and the bustling Plaza Murillo.

As the day's exploration continues, we’ll make our way to the Convent of Santo Domingo and the intriguing Witches' Market, where a variety of mystical and esoteric items await your discovery.

Concluding our journey, we will return across the border to Peru and ensure you are dropped off at your hotel in Puno after approximately 10 to 11 hours of enriching exploration.
