Lampa Day Trip
We'll pick you up at 8 am at your hotel in Puno to head north for a 2-hour drive to Lampa.
Upon arrival, we'll visit the Jesuit temple of Santiago Apostle, notable for its Christian relics including a sculpture of the Virgin of Chiquinquira, a leather crucifix, the silver image of the Immaculate Conception, and a replica of the Pietà.
Next, we will enter the atrium of the church and access the ancient catacombs, exploring the impressive mausoleum and ossuary decorated with skulls and bones.
After visiting the temple, we will walk through Lampa's streets to view its colonial buildings, such as the Casona Frisancho and the Municipality of Lampa, built in pink ashlar stone. We'll also cross the Cal y Canto bridge, celebrated for its challenging construction.
On our return to Puno, we'll stop at a local market for some free time to shop for souvenirs. We'll conclude the trip by dropping you off at your hotel in Puno at 3 pm.
