Lampa Day Trip
Pickup will be at 8 am from your hotel in Puno, followed by a 2-hour drive to Lampa.
Upon arrival, the first stop will be the Jesuit temple of Santiago Apostle, notable for its Christian relics, including a sculpture of the Virgin of Chiquinquira, a leather crucified Christ, the silver image of the Immaculate Conception, and the Pietà, a replica modeled after Michelangelo's work in St. Peter’s Basilica.
The tour will include a visit to the atrium, surrounded by 8 towers, followed by an exploration of the ancient catacombs, featuring a mausoleum and ossuary adorned with skulls and bones meticulously arranged.
After the temple visit, we will walk through Lampa, appreciating colonial buildings, such as the Casona Frisancho, and passing the Municipality of Lampa built of pink ashlar stone. We will also cross the Cal y Canto bridge, known for its past beauty and challenging construction.
