Yavi and Quiaca Trip
After picking you up from your hotel in Purmamarca at 9 am, we will take National Route 9 to the most northern area of Argentina.
We will travel through the landscapes of the Argentinean Puna until we reach the picturesque town of Yavi. Here, we will explore the historic center, which includes the House of the Marquis of Tojo, the water mill, and the church of San Francisco de Asis. Inside this temple, we will see a gold-laminated altar that is notable in the region.
At the end of the tour of Yavi, we will climb to the Cerro de los Ocho Hermanos (Hill of Eight Brothers) for views of the municipality and the Laguna Colorada.
We will continue the excursion at La Quiaca, a border town between Argentina and Bolivia. Both countries are connected by the International Bridge of Villazón, and we will cross some sections on the Argentinean side. We will provide historical context about this link.
You will have one hour free for lunch in La Quiaca (not included) to enjoy both Argentinean and Bolivian cuisine! After lunch, we will return to your hotel in Purmamarca, arriving at 6 pm.
