Walk through the area surrounding the Cotacotani Lagoons and explore the volcanic scenery of Lauca National Park on our hike from Putre.

Cotacotani Lagoons Hike

At 7 am, pick-up from your hotel in Putre will commence as we head to Lauca National Park. We'll reach an altitude of 14,271 feet (4,350 metres) to admire the Cotacotani Lagoons and surrounding volcanoes.

The hike will begin at the lagoons' viewpoint, offering views of the Chilean Altiplano and the nearby Bolivian border, home to alpacas and vicuñas.

As you navigate the Cotacotani Lagoons, you'll see the Parinacota and Pomerape volcanoes, which exceed 19,685 feet (6,000 metres) in height. We will stop at the protected area around Cotacotani to appreciate the scenery.

A break will be taken on the shores of the lagoons for a picnic lunch that includes sandwiches, dried fruits and nuts, chocolate, and natural juices. After lunch, we'll continue our hike through the stunning surroundings of the lagoons.

Our hike, covering approximately 6 miles (9 to 10 kilometres), will conclude at the starting point. We'll then return to your hotel in Putre, with drop-off between 1 and 2 pm.
