Walk through the beautiful area surrounding the Cotacotani Lagoons and explore the volcanic scenery in this part of the Lauca National Park on our hike from Putre. Let's go!

Cotacotani Lagoons Hike

At 7 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Putre and head to the Lauca National Park. At an altitude of 14,271 feet (4,350 metres), we'll admire the Cotacotani Lagoons and surrounding volcanoes.

The hike will start from the viewpoint of the lagoons, with views extending to the nearby Bolivian border, home to alpacas and vicuñas.

As we walk around the Cotacotani Lagoons, you'll see the Parinacota and Pomerape volcanoes with altitudes exceeding 19,685 feet (6,000 metres), creating a striking landscape in Lauca National Park. We'll stop in the protected area around Cotacotani to admire the scenery.

A break on the shores of the lagoons will include a picnic lunch of sandwiches, dried fruits, nuts, chocolate, and natural juices. After lunch, we'll continue exploring the breathtaking surroundings.

After walking approximately 6 miles (9 to 10 kilometres), the hike will conclude at the starting point. We will return to your hotel in Putre, dropping you off between 1 and 2 pm.
