Embark on a 3-day exploration of the stunning landscapes within Lauca National Park, a remarkable protected region situated in northern Chile.

Day 1

We'll start by collecting you from your accommodation in Putre at a pre-arranged time and proceed to the nearby caves just outside the town. Following a brief stroll around the caves, our journey continues to the Chucuyo viewpoint, where you can soak in the mesmerizing vistas of Lauca National Park, characterized by its striking lagoons and volcanoes nestled in the Andean highlands.

The next destination is the town of Parinacota, home to a church designated as a National Monument. Close to this site lie the renowned Cotacotani Lagoons, which we will admire from a prominent viewpoint, alongside the scenic Chungará Lake.

Our adventure then leads us to the Chirigualla hot springs before heading to Chivatambo for an insightful look into the traditional technique of charqui (meat drying). We’ll conclude the day with a delightful dinner and overnight stay in a rural home within the village.

Day 2

Following breakfast, we set off for the vicuña reserve, located to the south of Lauca. We will also pass along the banks of the Lauca River and visit the Surire Salt Flats, known as one of the largest sodium chloride deposits in the region.

Next, we'll witness the majestic flamingos residing at the base of Chinchilleni hill and take in the scenic landscapes of Chilcaya. A stop will be made at the Polloquere hot springs, situated adjacent to the salt flats.

During midday, we'll take a break for a picnic lunch, after which we will explore the ancient highland community of Guallatire. The day wraps up at a rural lodge in Socoroma.

Day 3

After enjoying a fulfilling breakfast, we’ll embark on a morning filled with trekking along the Inca Trail and Phusiri Collo. These paths lead us to Zapahuira, where we will encounter the ancient Inca structures known as tambos and colcas.

As the route continues to Copaquilla and Mallku, we’ll delve into the rich traditions of the local population. After gaining insights into their way of life, we will proceed to the Cardones Ravine, home to the iconic candelabro cactus.

Before concluding our journey, we will observe the diverse migratory birds inhabiting the Lluta wetland and, as evening approaches, make our way back to your hotel in Putre.

Your stay will be in shared rooms within rural accommodations, with dinner and breakfast provided. Please note that the specific lodging arrangements could vary based on availability or weather factors.

Lunch is also included each day, comprising a picnic lunch that will take place during one of the lunchtime breaks throughout the excursions.
