Depart from Putre for a 3-day tour through Lauca National Park, a significant protected area in northern Chile.

Lauca 3-day Tour

Day 1

You will be picked up at your hotel in Putre and travel to nearby caves. After a short walk, visit the Chucuyo viewpoint for panoramic views of Lauca National Park. Next is Parinacota to see its National Monument church and the Cotacotani Lagoons. We will also visit Chungará Lake.

The tour includes a stop at the Chirigualla hot springs and Chivatambo for a lesson on meat dehydration (charqui). Dinner and lodging will be at a rural house in the village.

Day 2

After breakfast, we will visit the vicuña reserve, Lauca River, and the Surire Salt Flats. Observe flamingos at Chinchilleni hill and the Polloquere hot springs.

A picnic lunch will be provided, followed by a visit to the ancient altiplano village of Guallatire. The day concludes at a rural lodge in Socoroma.

Day 3

After breakfast, trek along the Inca Trail and Phusiri Collo to Zapahuira for ancient Inca constructions. The route continues to Copaquilla and Mallku to learn about local traditions. We will visit Cardones Ravine to see candelabro cactus.

We will also observe migratory birds at the Lluta wetland before returning to your hotel in Putre.

Accommodation and meals

Accommodation is in shared rooms in rural houses, with dinner and breakfast included. Lodging may vary due to availability or weather.

Lunches are included and consist of picnic lunches during midday breaks.
