Discover one of the most stunning natural landscapes in northern Chile with a day excursion to Lauca National Park from Putre. This experience offers an opportunity to appreciate the distinctive altiplano terrain and the majestic volcanoes that frame it.

Day Excursion to Lauca National Park

The journey begins at 7 am when our team will collect you from your accommodation in Putre, then we’ll head towards the enchanting Lauca National Park, situated in northern Chile close to the Bolivian border.

Your first destination will be Lake Chugará, perched at an impressive 14,764 feet (4,500 meters) above sea level. After soaking in the picturesque views, we'll venture deeper into the park to admire its stunning volcanoes. The prominent peaks include Parinacota, Pomerape, and Guallatiri, all rising above 19,685 feet (6,000 meters).

As we wander through this protected region, you’ll encounter the celebrated alpacas and vicuñas that inhabit the Chilean altiplano. A delightful break in the natural setting will allow you to enjoy a picnic lunch featuring sandwiches, dried fruits, chocolate, and juices.

Our path will then lead us to the awe-inspiring Cotacotani Lagoons before we explore the picturesque surroundings of the park. A visit to the village of Parinacota will reveal a church recognized as a National Monument. Following this, we’ll explore the archaeological sites of Chaku and Las Cuevas to gain insight into the historical significance of the area.

Finally, we aim to conclude our adventure with a stop at the magnificent Jurasi Hot Springs. Please note that this portion of the itinerary may be subject to change due to potential closures.

You will be returned to your hotel in Putre between 2 and 3 pm.
