The Mauritius Tea Route is an essential activity to learn about the history of the island nation. Join us on our private tea tour of Mauritius Island and visit three colonial houses.
Description
At the designated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel for our private tour to explore the significance of tea in Mauritius' history.
We'll start at Le Domaine des Aubineaux, one of the few 19th-century colonial houses accessible to visitors. Here, we'll explore this building-turned-museum and learn about Mauritian tea, along with a stroll through the gardens showcasing various endemic plant species.
Next, we will drive to Bois Chéri, the most notable destination on the tea route. This plantation offers insight into the colonial history of the island and tea production. During our tour, we will observe different stages of the tea production process.
While at Bois Chéri, we will visit its museum to learn about the diverse aromas and healing properties of tea, alongside enjoying panoramic views of the plantations.
Our final stop will be Saint Aubin, a former sugar cane plantation. Here, you will have 30 minutes of free time for lunch at a local restaurant.
The excursion will conclude with your return to the hotel after approximately 8 hours.
