Day Trip Details
We will meet at Calle Independencia, number 64C, near Plaza de Armas to begin the trip. We'll follow the footsteps of Ignacio Pérez, known as the "Messenger of Independence," who alerted the Corregidora about the looming threat from the Spanish.
After a 2-hour journey, our first stop will be at Dolores Hidalgo, the birthplace of the Independence Movement on September 16, 1810. We will visit the Parish of Nuestra Señora de Los Dolores, the house of Jesuit Miguel Hidalgo, and the main square.
Next, we'll proceed to Atotonilco to see the Sanctuary of Atotonilco, known for its Baroque architecture and murals, referred to as the "Sistine Chapel of Mexico." You will learn about the significance of the Virgin of Guadalupe during the insurgency. There will be 1 hour of free time for lunch.
After lunch, we will visit San Miguel de Allende, commemorating Ignacio Allende, a leader of the independence movement. The itinerary includes the museum home of the Allende family and the Gothic church of San Miguel.
We will conclude our tour, lasting 8 to 10 hours, by returning to the meeting point in Querétaro.
