Day Trip Details
At the designated time, we'll meet at Calle Independencia, number 64C, near Plaza de Armas to begin our trip. We will follow the steps of Ignacio Pérez, the "Messenger of Independence," who warned the Corregidora about the Spanish discovery of the insurgent movement.
After a 2-hour journey, our first stop will be Dolores Hidalgo, where the Independence Movement began on September 16, 1810. We will visit the Parish of Nuestra Señora de Los Dolores, the house of Jesuit Miguel Hidalgo, and the main square.
Next, we will go to Atotonilco, home to the Sanctuary of Atotonilco, known as "the Sistine Chapel of Mexico." You will learn about the significance of the Virgin of Guadalupe for the local insurgents. After exploring, you will have 1 hour of free time to grab some lunch.
Following lunch, we will visit San Miguel de Allende, honoring Ignacio Allende, a leader in Mexican independence. We will tour the museum home of the Allende family and the Gothic church of San Miguel.
Finally, we will return to the meeting point in Querétaro, concluding this 8 to 10 hour tour.
