Day Trip Details
At the designated time, we'll meet at Calle Independencia, number 64C, close to the Plaza de Armas to begin our day trip. We'll trace the steps of Ignacio Pérez, the "Messenger of Independence," who warned the Corregidora about the insurgent movement in New Spain.
After a 2-hour journey, we'll stop at Dolores Hidalgo, where the Independence Movement began on September 16, 1810. We'll visit the Parish of Nuestra Señora de Los Dolores, the house of Jesuit Miguel Hidalgo, and the main square.
Next, we'll head to Atotonilco to see the Sanctuary of Atotonilco, a Baroque church with significant murals. You'll learn about the importance of the Virgin of Guadalupe for the insurgents. After this visit, you'll have 1 hour of free time for lunch.
After lunch, our last stop will be at San Miguel de Allende, honoring Ignacio Allende, one of the leaders in Mexican independence. We'll visit the museum home of the Allende family and the iconic Gothic church of San Miguel.
